Augusto Guarda fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 5th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Artur Oliveira having to interfere. In the 6th match minute, Daivoes was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Alexandre Faro to maneuver through the defense. Artur Oliveira took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Joaquim Assunção, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When Alexandre Faro fell near the penalty area in the 15th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Daivoes's protests and gave Alexandre Faro a yellow card for diving instead. Alexandre Faro kicked well hit freekick during the 15th minute of the match. Artur Oliveira made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Joaquim Assunção in the 17th minute of play. In the 18th minute, Alexandre Faro hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 21st minute of the match Manuel Fontes shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Artur Oliveira showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Daivoes's Artur Oliveira played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Joaquim Assunção in the 29th minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Daivoes's zone, Joaquim Assunção stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Artur Oliveira came out of the goal and Joaquim Assunção tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When Rogério Cardoso came up free with the goalie in the 40th minute, the Gave fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Rogério Cardoso couldn't finish the play. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.
1-0 became the score in the 52nd minute when André Fontes elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. After some fancy dribbling in the 57th minute, Francisco Rodrigues managed to get in a good position for a shot. Daivoes's supporters rose to their feet, but Francisco Rodrigues was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Joaquim Leal breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. An unexpectedly hard shot by Francisco Rodrigues in the 73rd minute of play forced Gave's goalkeeper Joaquim Leal to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Augusto Guarda during the 76th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The referee ignored Gave's protests and gave Jaime Assis a yellow card for diving instead. In the 87th minute, Jaime Assis hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 89th minute, Francisco Rodrigues got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. When Lucas Baptista fell near the penalty area in the 90th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Gave's protests and gave Lucas Baptista a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Daivoes booed when Gave was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 91 match minutes in a wonderful position. Lucas Baptista didn't get a good kick on the ball. André Fontes's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Joaquim Leal read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 95th minute of play. Daivoes's Alexandre Faro got a good chance for a goal in the 97th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar.
