After 2 played minutes Malveira FC got a freekick which was hit by Diamantino Magalhães. After 6 played minutes Santao FC got a freekick which was hit by Simão Porto. Júlio Gonçalves hit a great freekick 9 minutes into the match. Henrique Pinho kicked well hit freekick during the 10th minute of the match. Joel Nogueira might have been able to make a better finish in the 16th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Rogério Correia. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Joel Nogueira ran back to his position shaking his head. Domingos Viegas sent away a hard shot on goal in the 25th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 26th minute, Pedro Carvalho managed to get in a good position for a shot. Santao FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Pedro Carvalho was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Pedro Melo breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After 27 minutes, Jorge Cunha mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Malveira FC and the Santao FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, Malveira FC's Jorge Cunha got a free kick in the 28th minute. Pedro Carvalho charged in rather forcefully in the 31st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Pedro Carvalho the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to Santao FC getting a freekick after 31 minutes play. Pedro Carvalho hit a great ball. Carlos Neves received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 32nd minute. Rogério Correia tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Carlos Neves might have been able to make a better finish in the 40th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Rogério Correia. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Carlos Neves ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 40th minute the ball was on its way in behind Santao FC's goalkeeper Rogério Correia, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Joel Nogueira fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 43rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rogério Correia having to interfere. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.
The supporters of Malveira FC booed when Santao FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 57 match minutes in a wonderful position. Júlio Gonçalves didn't get a good kick on the ball. Malveira FC's Pedro Melo proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 60th minute of the match, managed to save Malveira FC from getting a goal against them. Pedro Carvalho could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 62nd minute of the match, but Pedro Melo made a huge save. Carlos Neves received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 69th minute. Rogério Correia tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. With a little luck, Malveira FC's Pedro Melo got control of the ball when Pedro Carvalho tried to sneak it across the goal line. If Domingos Viegas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 81st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Pedro Melo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Domingos Viegas, who was totally free with the ball in the 84th minute. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Santao FC eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
