Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 1-2 lead.

In the 53rd minute Luís Vieira shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Raul Leite saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 59 minutes into the match, SC Folga's goal looked a bit too open when Luís Vieira came free, but Raul Leite reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. SC Folga were furious when Carlos Magalhães was red carded, 66 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. The supporters of Provado booed when SC Folga was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 86 match minutes in a wonderful position. Eduardo Miranda didn't get a good kick on the ball. After having played for 97 minutes, Cristóvão Neves managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Provado's supporters crossed their fingers, but Cristóvão Neves was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jorge Almeida in the 101st minute of play forced SC Folga's goalkeeper Raul Leite to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The final whistle blew with the score still tied, and both teams left the pitch thinking about the missed chances that could have given their team the win.
