Fábio Leão showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Abel Branco in the 19th minute of the match. In the 37th minute, Apilata FC's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Vasco Guerreiro fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. Nuno Dias made a fantastic save in the 39th minute, when António Borges sent off a good shot on target. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Cristiano Anjos stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Marco Antunes was in a good position and managed to take a shot, but he missed just to the outside of the post. A collision led to Apilata FC getting a freekick after 58 minutes play. Francisco Cunha hit a great ball. António Borges sent away a hard shot on goal in the 60th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. David Cabral's late challenge caught a Apilata FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. David Cabral helped the player get up and apologised. 62 minutes into the game, one of Violeiro:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Violeiro:s Fábio Leão showed great skill when he stopped Miguel Pires:s penalty. Apilata FC's Nuno Dias played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by António Borges in the 67th minute of play. Abel Branco fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 69th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Fábio Leão having to interfere.
