The audience was convinced that Cristóvão Coelho's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Catarino Araújo was relentless in the 24th minute of the game. Catarino Araújo made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-0. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

After a rather tough play, Ameixeira's Ricardo Cabral got a free kick in the 55th minute. Cristóvão Coelho received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 60th minute. Catarino Araújo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Augusto Vaz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Simão Barbosa in the 75th minute of the match. Albertino Simões sent away a hard shot on goal in the 77th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Cristóvão Coelho came up free with the goalie in the 81st minute, the Ameixeira fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Cristóvão Coelho couldn't finish the play. Catarino Araújo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Albertino Vale, who was totally free with the ball in the 88th minute.
