If Rogério Torres had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 5th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Rogério Torres struck a weak shot in the 6th minute. Adolfo Resende didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Rendo FC. 8 minutes into the game, Hugo Abreu was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. SC Remedios's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Rendo FC the free kick. If Rogério Torres had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 10th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. When Óscar Campos fell near the penalty area in the 14th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Rendo FC's protests and gave Óscar Campos a yellow card for diving instead. In the 14th match minute, Rendo FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Óscar Campos to maneuver through the defense. 15 minutes into the match, SC Remedios's Augusto Leite broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. The supporters of Rendo FC booed when SC Remedios was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 16 match minutes in a wonderful position. Cândido Neto didn't get a good kick on the ball. Manuel Gonçalves took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cândido Neto, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a rather tough play, Rendo FC's Vítor Barros got a free kick in the 20th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Rendo FC's zone, David Sá stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Manuel Gonçalves came out of the goal and David Sá tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. A collision led to Rendo FC getting a freekick after 22 minutes play. Vítor Barros hit a great ball. David Sá could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 26th minute of the match, but Manuel Gonçalves made a huge save. Marco Neves's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Adolfo Resende read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 36th minute of play. With a little luck, Rendo FC's Manuel Gonçalves got control of the ball when David Sá tried to sneak it across the goal line. SC Remedios were awarded a corner in the 42th minute after Rendo FC's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Augusto Leite took the corner. A well-hit corner resulted in Inácio Fernandes heading the ball towards the goal, but to his dismay he misdirected it and missed the goal completely. When Mário Torres fell near the penalty area in the 44th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Rendo FC's protests and gave Mário Torres a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of SC Remedios booed when Rendo FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 44 match minutes in a wonderful position. Mário Torres didn't get a good kick on the ball. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Cândido Neto to make the kick off. In the 51st minute Cândido Neto shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Manuel Gonçalves saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Rendo FC's Marco Neves got a good chance for a goal in the 62nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After some careless play in the SC Remedios defense, Marco Neves kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Adolfo Resende. The SC Remedios fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Adolfo Resende should have stopped the shot. With a little luck, SC Remedios's Adolfo Resende got control of the ball when Marco Neves tried to sneak it across the goal line. 71 minutes into the match, SC Remedios's goalkeeper Adolfo Resende had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Marco Neves. 75 minutes into the match, David Sá had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Manuel Gonçalves. Rendo FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that David Sá was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-1. Carlos Melo's late challenge caught a Rendo FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Carlos Melo helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, SC Remedios's Inácio Fernandes got a free kick in the 81st minute. David Sá recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 87th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 89th minute Cândido Neto shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Manuel Gonçalves saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Neither set of supporters seemed pleased with the draw, but both teams had played equally well today.
