Humberto Garcia came out of the goal and Júlio Pedroso tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 12 minutes into the game, João Vaz was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Gave FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave SC Tornol the free kick. A collision led to Gave FC getting a freekick after 12 minutes play. João Vaz hit a great ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when José Nunes got free with Duarte Garcia in the 14th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. If Júlio Pedroso had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 18th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Jorge Aguiar during the 22nd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of SC Tornol booed when Gave FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 22 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jorge Aguiar didn't get a good kick on the ball. Alexandre Esteves's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Humberto Garcia read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 26th minute of play. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Alexandre Esteves charged in rather forcefully in the 57th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Alexandre Esteves the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 57th minute, Alexandre Esteves hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. An unexpectedly hard shot by José Nunes in the 58th minute of play forced Gave FC's goalkeeper Duarte Garcia to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Júlio Pedroso who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 61stth minute tested the skills of Humberto Garcia when he managed to save the team from getting behind. If José Nunes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 88th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Humberto Garcia showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Alexandre Esteves in the 92nd minute of the match. After 96 minutes, Fábio Lisboa mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the SC Tornol and the Gave FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, SC Tornol's Fábio Lisboa got a free kick in the 97th minute. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Gave FC walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
