When José Rodrigues came up free with the goalie in the 2nd minute, the Nariz fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that José Rodrigues couldn't finish the play. Manuel Maia made an important save on a dangerous shot by Rodrigo Fontes in the 6th minute. Rodrigo Fontes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 8th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Manuel Maia having to interfere. After 9 played minutes SC Montezinho got a freekick which was hit by José Carneiro. José Rodrigues struck a weak shot in the 16th minute. Manuel Maia didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Nariz. José Rodrigues sent away a hard shot on goal in the 19th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 22nd minute Gonçalo Figueiredo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gaspar Sá saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After having played for 29 minutes, Humberto Fonseca managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. SC Montezinho's supporters crossed their fingers, but Humberto Fonseca was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Gaspar Sá showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gonçalo Figueiredo, who was totally free with the ball in the 31st minute. The crowd rose to their feet as SC Montezinho's Humberto Fonseca slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Gaspar Sá. That made the score 0-1 after 53 minutes of play. Gaspar Sá came out of the goal and Gonçalo Figueiredo tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Manuel Maia took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Rodrigo Fontes, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Both teams had looked equal from kick-off, and no-one was surprised when the match finally ended in a draw.
