Nuno Marques made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-0. Daniel Mendes received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 15th minute. António Moniz tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Mendes FC's António Correia got a free kick in the 18th minute. In the 23rd minute Cândido Nogueira shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but António Moniz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Cândido Nogueira scored 1-1 in the 33rd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of António Moniz, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. The supporters of Portalegre booed when Mendes FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 37 match minutes in a wonderful position. António Correia didn't get a good kick on the ball. With his leg Nuno Marques managed to avoid a goal in the 39thth minute, when Portalegre's Ricardo Santarém fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. In the 42nd match minute, Portalegre was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Gonçalo Torres to maneuver through the defense. In the 45th match minute, Portalegre was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Alfredo Delgado to maneuver through the defense.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Daniel Mendes made a kick off. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Gonçalo Torres during the 54th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Gonçalo Torres hit a great freekick 54 minutes into the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Daniel Mendes in the 55th minute of play forced Portalegre's goalkeeper António Moniz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 80 played minutes Portalegre got a freekick which was hit by José Pacheco. 86 minutes into the game, José Pacheco cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-3. Nuno Marques was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After a defensive mix-up in Portalegre's zone, Daniel Mendes stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. António Moniz came out of the goal and Daniel Mendes tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If Cândido Nogueira had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 94th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Mendes FC's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
