The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. If Bento Magalhães had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 7th minute. In the 14th minute of the match Luís Martins sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Armando Faro skillfully saved the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Bento Magalhães got free with Armando Faro in the 17th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 19th minute, SC Vermoeiros's Amílcar Gueifão dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 2-0. After 21 played minutes SC Vermoeiros got a freekick which was hit by Ricardo Esteves. Armando Faro made a fantastic save in the 33rd minute, when Bento Magalhães sent off a good shot on target. When Artur Amaro fell near the penalty area in the 33rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Canenhos's protests and gave Artur Amaro a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of SC Vermoeiros booed when Canenhos was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 34 match minutes in a wonderful position. Artur Amaro didn't get a good kick on the ball. Bento Magalhães sent away a hard shot on goal in the 37th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Armando Faro showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Amílcar Gueifão in the 38th minute of the match. After 43 minutes Canenhos's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Daniel Almeida who took care of the corner kick. The corner led SC Vermoeiros's Daniel Almeida to fire away a dangerous shot which Armando Faro despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Cláudio Cabral showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from João Santos in the 44th minute of the match. In the 48th match minute, Canenhos was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Viriato Dantas to maneuver through the defense. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-0 at half-time.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Amílcar Gueifão stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Bento Magalhães received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 61st minute. Armando Faro tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Cláudio Cabral showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from João Santos in the 65th minute of the match. In the 68th minute João Santos shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cláudio Cabral saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a rather tough play, Canenhos's Artur Amaro got a free kick in the 72nd minute. Nuno Resende struck a weak shot in the 77th minute. Cláudio Cabral didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Canenhos. If João Santos had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 79th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Nuno Resende scored 2-1 in the 84th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Cláudio Cabral, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Nuno Resende recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 89th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. If Nuno Resende had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 91st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Nuno Resende sent away a hard shot on goal in the 93rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Amílcar Gueifão sent away a hard shot on goal in the 97th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 99th minute of the match Pedro Fernandes sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Armando Faro skillfully saved the ball.
