An unexpectedly hard shot by Paulo Silva in the 10th minute of play forced Sobreiro's goalkeeper Afonso Trindade to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Paulo Silva in the 15th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Afonso Trindade prevented the ball from getting in the gole. An unexpectedly hard shot by Paulo Silva in the 17th minute of play forced Sobreiro's goalkeeper Afonso Trindade to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 18th minute, Fontainhas's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Ricardo Carvalho fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. Paulo Silva fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 25th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Afonso Trindade having to interfere. After 26 played minutes Sobreiro got a freekick which was hit by Joaquim Nogueira. Afonso Trindade took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jacinto Pedroso, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 29th minute, Manuel Sá hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 30th minute, Adelino Matias sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Sobreiro's Afonso Trindade didn't even have to move. A hard shot 32 in the game by Rui Esteves from a close distance when the talented Joaquim Rodrigues managed to make a qualified save. Fontainhas's players were relieved. After a defensive mix-up in Sobreiro's zone, Jacinto Pedroso stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Afonso Trindade came out of the goal and Jacinto Pedroso tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Joaquim Nogueira hit a great freekick 41 minutes into the match. In the 44th minute Fontainhas were awarded a corner. Adelino Matias went to the cornerflag to take it. Fontainhas's Adelino Matias was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Afonso Trindade in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Jacinto Pedroso fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 46th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Afonso Trindade having to interfere. If Paulo Silva had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 47th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Jacinto Pedroso to make the kick off. Cristiano Campos kicked well hit freekick during the 55th minute of the match. Nuno Fernandes could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 59th minute of the match, but Afonso Trindade made a huge save. 63 minutes into the match, Sobreiro's goalkeeper Afonso Trindade had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Paulo Silva. Joaquim Rodrigues showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Rui Esteves in the 65th minute of the match. Fontainhas's Joaquim Rodrigues played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Rui Esteves in the 70th minute of play. Afonso Trindade showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jacinto Pedroso in the 74th minute of the match. Joaquim Nogueira fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 77th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Joaquim Rodrigues having to interfere. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Jacinto Pedroso in the 83rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Afonso Trindade saved Sobreiro from getting behind. After 90 minutes of play, Sobreiro's Rui Esteves made it 2-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Joaquim Rodrigues was left in no man's land by his defense there! Afonso Trindade made a fantastic save in the 94th minute, when Paulo Silva sent off a good shot on target. With a little luck, Sobreiro's Afonso Trindade got control of the ball when Paulo Silva tried to sneak it across the goal line. The supporters of Fontainhas booed when Sobreiro was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 96 match minutes in a wonderful position. Manuel Sá didn't get a good kick on the ball.
