But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Augusto Moutinho couldn't finish the play. Luís Garcia showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from André Faria, who was totally free with the ball in the 21st minute. After 22 played minutes Viegas got a freekick which was hit by Heitor Amaral. Eduardo Vieira sent away a hard shot on goal in the 24th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. SC Casconho's supporters rose to their feet, but André Faria was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Luís Garcia breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick.

After a defensive mix-up in Viegas's zone, André Faria stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Luís Garcia came out of the goal and André Faria tried to chip the ball over his head. After having played for 55 minutes, Manuel Brito managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. SC Casconho's supporters crossed their fingers, but Manuel Brito was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Viegas's Luís Garcia played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Fernando Leite in the 57th minute of play. After a rather tough play, SC Casconho's Fernando Leite got a free kick in the 61st minute. 63 minutes into the match, Viegas's goal looked a bit too open when Fernando Leite came free, but Luís Garcia reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Fernando Leite in the 73rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Luís Garcia prevented the ball from getting in the gole. The Viegas supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching SC Casconho's performance. The match ended with a win for SC Casconho.
