When Afonso Monteiro fell near the penalty area in the 14th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Helenos FC's protests and gave Afonso Monteiro a yellow card for diving instead. Afonso Monteiro hit a great freekick 14 minutes into the match. During the 30th minute of the match Afonso Monteiro completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Afonso Monteiro a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. In the 31st match minute, Helenos FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Afonso Monteiro to maneuver through the defense. José Lopes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 70th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Miguel Gonçalves having to interfere. In the 73rd minute the ball was on its way in behind Helenos FC's goalkeeper Hugo Cabral, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Gil Pires during the 74th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 81st minute, Miguel Machado made a precise shot to the right of Hugo Cabral. Helenos FC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-2.
