Alexandre Amaral started the match with the kick off. Augusto Leal's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Hugo Cabral firmly grabbed it by the left post. If Alexandre Amaral had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 13th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Helenos FC's Hugo Cabral played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alexandre Amaral in the 15th minute of play. The referee felt a red card was in order, 28 minutes into the game, when Nuno Moniz put in a rough tackle. In the 27th minute, one of Covancas FC:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Covancas FC. After a defensive mix-up in Covancas FC's zone, José Lopes stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Rogério Faria came out of the goal and José Lopes tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Hugo Mota sent away a hard shot on goal in the 41st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by José Lopes in the 43rd minute of play forced Covancas FC's goalkeeper Rogério Faria to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If José Lopes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 48th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The Covancas FC players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Helenos FC were winning 1-2.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Hugo Mota to strike the kick off in the second half. The audience thought a goal was coming when José Lopes got free with Rogério Faria in the 59th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Helenos FC's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Augusto Faria in the 61st minute. In the 67th minute of the match Vicente Sousa shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Hugo Cabral showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. In the 69th minute, Hugo Mota reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Rogério Faria. The goal made the score 1-3. The supporters of Helenos FC booed when Covancas FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 72 match minutes in a wonderful position. Vicente Sousa didn't get a good kick on the ball. Augusto Faria could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 73rd minute of the match, but Rogério Faria made a huge save. Augusto Leal hit a great freekick 83 minutes into the match. Augusto Leal took the ball and in the 86 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Hugo Cabral. Hugo Cabral dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-4. Humberto Nascimento's late challenge caught a Covancas FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Humberto Nascimento helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Helenos FC getting a freekick after 92 minutes play. Humberto Nascimento hit a great ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when José Lopes got free with Rogério Faria in the 96th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The Helenos FC supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Helenos FC would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
