Tomás Vieira fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 19th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jorge Bessa having to interfere. Gaspar Sousa hit a great freekick 21 minutes into the match. Tiago Moreira took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from João Amaral, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Júlio Valente kicked well hit freekick during the 27th minute of the match. After a defensive mix-up in SC Palhoca's zone, Vítor Reis stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Tiago Moreira came out of the goal and Vítor Reis tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 30 minutes into the match, SC Palhoca's goal looked a bit too open when João Amaral came free, but Tiago Moreira reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 31 minutes into the game, Carlos Pires cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Jorge Bessa was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. SC Palhoca's Tiago Moreira proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 38th minute of the match, managed to save SC Palhoca from getting a goal against them. In the 44th minute of the match, João Amaral tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Tiago Moreira saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

In the 51st minute the ball was on its way in behind SC Palhoca's goalkeeper Tiago Moreira, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar.
