Paulo Esteves tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 4 minutes into the match, Jorge Alves notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Casconho FC's Paulo Esteves. Paulo Esteves was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Ricardo Borba sent away a hard shot on goal in the 11th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Jorge Alves sent away a hard shot on goal in the 12th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Emílio Tavares fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 16th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Paulo Esteves having to interfere. In the 18th minute Emílio Tavares suffered a thigh injury and had to be helped off the field. Francisco Assis charged in rather forcefully in the 18th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Francisco Assis the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 20th minute there was a penalty for Costilhao. Rafael Correia stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Paulo Esteves. 0-2. Alberto Nogueira received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 24th minute. Paulo Esteves tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Jorge Alves recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 26th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Jorge Alves sent away a hard shot on goal in the 28th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Jorge Alves fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 30th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Paulo Esteves having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Xavier Neves in the 32nd minute of play forced Costilhao's goalkeeper Simão Marques to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Ricardo Borba's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 34thth minute, Simão Marques skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. In the 36th minute, Ricardo Borba left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Casconho FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-2. When Xavier Neves got free in front of the goal in the 45th minute he wasn't very focused and chipped the ball just over the goal. Simão Marques was delighted since he was out of position and the ball would have got in if it had gone under the crossbar. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Jorge Alves to strike the kick off in the second half. When Óscar Trindade came up free with the goalie in the 51st minute, the Costilhao fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Óscar Trindade couldn't finish the play. If Jorge Alves had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 55th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. A collision led to Casconho FC getting a freekick after 56 minutes play. Basílio Vieira hit a great ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Jorge Alves in the 57th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Paulo Esteves saved Casconho FC from getting behind. 65 minutes into the match, Xavier Neves had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Simão Marques. Costilhao's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Xavier Neves was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-2. António Setúbal charged in rather forcefully in the 68th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed António Setúbal the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Casconho FC booed when Costilhao was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 68 match minutes in a wonderful position. António Setúbal didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Xavier Neves had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 71st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Simão Marques didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Xavier Neves went, in the 73rd minute, to the upper right corner, 3-2 was the resulting score. After a defensive mix-up in Costilhao's zone, Ricardo Borba stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Simão Marques came out of the goal and Ricardo Borba tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Costilhao's Simão Marques played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Xavier Neves in the 83rd minute of play. In the 90th minute, Ricardo Borba ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Simão Marques was frozen by the shot and now it was 4-2.
