The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Daniel Carneiro during the 5th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Roqueirinho's Tomás Nascimento played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by José Moreira in the 6th minute of play. Vítor Magalhães received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 8th minute. Tomás Nascimento tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 10th minute José Moreira shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tomás Nascimento saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 21st minute, Carlos Fonseca hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When José Moreira in the 23rd play minute got the chance to kick a hard shot on goal from short distance neither the defense or Tomás Nascimento kept up with the ball and suddenly the score was 1-1 when the ball slipped into goal inside the left pole. Paulo Amorim stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Catarino Veiga's shot from short distance in the 27th minute. Augusto Santos received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 28th minute. Paulo Amorim tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Vítor Magalhães struck a weak shot in the 35th minute. Tomás Nascimento didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Covela. Daniel Carneiro hit a great freekick 36 minutes into the match. Carlos Fonseca kicked well hit freekick during the 41st minute of the match. In the 42nd minute, one of Covela:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Covela. The referee gave Roqueirinho a penalty, 44 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Manuel Coimbra, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Covela's Paulo Amorim. 1-3. After the first half Roqueirinho were leading 1-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Roqueirinho's Catarino Veiga got a good chance for a goal in the 51st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 54th minute of the match, Catarino Veiga tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Paulo Amorim saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. If Augusto Santos had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 55th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a defensive mix-up in Covela's zone, Catarino Veiga stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Paulo Amorim came out of the goal and Catarino Veiga tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Roqueirinho's Tomás Nascimento played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by José Moreira in the 60th minute of play. Vítor Magalhães received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 61st minute. Tomás Nascimento tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Tomás Nascimento showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Vítor Magalhães, who was totally free with the ball in the 72nd minute. Vítor Magalhães sent away a hard shot on goal in the 74th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Catarino Veiga struck a weak shot in the 76th minute. Paulo Amorim didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Roqueirinho. In the 79th match minute, Covela was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by José Aleixo to maneuver through the defense. Paulo Amorim made a fantastic save in the 80th minute, when Catarino Veiga sent off a good shot on target. Tomás Nascimento stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Vítor Magalhães's shot from short distance in the 87th minute. Vítor Magalhães sent away a hard shot on goal in the 90th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 91 played minutes Roqueirinho got a freekick which was hit by Rogério Luz. Roqueirinho's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
