The referee ignored Pinheirinho FC's protests and gave Domingos Freitas a yellow card for diving instead. Armando Sousa didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Inácio Assunção went, in the 25th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-2 was the resulting score. In the 36th minute, Alexandre Araújo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. António Fonseca sent away a hard shot on goal in the 45th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Armando Sousa stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Inácio Assunção's shot from short distance in the 47th minute. Disappointed in the 0-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The wind increased when António Fonseca made the kick off in the second half. But to his dismay, Sebastião Pinto quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-3. If Inácio Assunção had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 65th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 67th minute, Américo Monteiro got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Paulo Jesus showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Sandro Nascimento in the 75th minute of the match. With an all-out effort, SC Curraleira's Armando Sousa threw himself towards the right post 79 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Inácio Assunção, which otherwise would have been placed in the net.
