Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. A collision led to SC Picotos getting a freekick after 20 minutes play. Adolfo Costa hit a great ball. In the 22nd minute, Carlos Moreira hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Gil Pedroso during the 24th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gil Pedroso in the 40th minute of play forced SC Picotos's goalkeeper Vítor Brito to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With his leg Simão Machado managed to avoid a goal in the 43rdth minute, when SC Picotos's António Morais fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Xavier Reis received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 44th minute. Simão Machado tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Simão Machado showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Xavier Reis in the 47th minute of the match. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Gil Pedroso to strike the kick off in the second half. António Morais fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 58th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Simão Machado having to interfere. António Morais received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 64th minute. Simão Machado tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The audience thought a goal was coming when Hélder Baptista got free with Vítor Brito in the 67th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 82nd minute, Xavier Reis made a precise shot to the right of Simão Machado. SC Barrellas's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-1. The supporters of SC Barrellas booed when SC Picotos was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 91 match minutes in a wonderful position. Carlos Moreira didn't get a good kick on the ball.
