Adolfo Cruz didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Saravigoes FC. When Jorge Assunção fell near the penalty area in the 45th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Saravigoes FC's protests and gave Jorge Assunção a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, Saravigoes FC's Jorge Assunção got a free kick in the 45th minute. Luís Leal recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 47th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-0 at half-time.
The wind increased when Luís Leal made the kick off in the second half. Luís Leal sent away a hard shot on goal in the 54th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. If Alfredo Pinto had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 87th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Luís Leal might have been able to make a better finish in the 89th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Hugo Carvalho. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Luís Leal ran back to his position shaking his head. Hugo Carvalho showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Luís Leal in the 90th minute of the match. Adolfo Cruz stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Gonçalo Faro's shot from short distance in the 94th minute. When Manuel Vieira came up free with the goalie in the 95th minute, the Saravigoes FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Manuel Vieira couldn't finish the play. Saravigoes FC's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
