The supporters of Bombardeira FC booed when Areao FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 13 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rodrigo Ferreira didn't get a good kick on the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when André Coimbra got free with Augusto Henriques in the 17th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. If André Coimbra had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 20th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Luís Leiria might have been able to make a better finish in the 33rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Augusto Henriques. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Luís Leiria ran back to his position shaking his head. Augusto Henriques made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Luís Leiria in the 35th minute of play. A collision led to Areao FC getting a freekick after 35 minutes play. Filipe Assunção hit a great ball. In the 41st minute Jaime Machado shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Alberto Ferro saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Areao FC's Augusto Henriques played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by André Coimbra in the 47th minute of play. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Luís Leiria was the one to do the kick off.
