Armando Santos was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. If Fernando Assunção had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 7th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 16thth minute of the game Emílio Reis who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Cantanhede's Armando Santos was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 19th minute Emílio Reis shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Armando Santos saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 26th minute of the game. One of Tagilde:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Cantanhede:s goal. Xavier Ferro showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Catarino Dantas, who was totally free with the ball in the 32nd minute. Cantanhede's Armando Santos played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Fernando Assunção in the 33rd minute of play. João Faro fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 35th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Xavier Ferro having to interfere. Tagilde's Xavier Ferro proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 39th minute of the match, managed to save Tagilde from getting a goal against them. After a defensive mix-up in Cantanhede's zone, Júlio Porto stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Armando Santos came out of the goal and Júlio Porto tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 43rd minute, Emílio Reis managed to get in a good position for a shot. Tagilde's supporters rose to their feet, but Emílio Reis was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Armando Santos breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Catarino Dantas fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 45th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Xavier Ferro having to interfere. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Fernando Assunção was the one to do the kick off. Fernando Assunção sent away a hard shot on goal in the 52nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Armando Santos took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Fernando Assunção, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Fernando Assunção in the 64th minute of play forced Cantanhede's goalkeeper Armando Santos to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Emílio Reis could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 67th minute of the match, but Armando Santos made a huge save. Fernando Assunção's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Armando Santos read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 72nd minute of play. Xavier Ferro made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Catarino Dantas in the 75th minute of play. Emílio Reis sent away a hard shot on goal in the 78th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Fernando Assunção fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 80th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Armando Santos having to interfere. When Júlio Porto fell near the penalty area in the 82nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Tagilde's protests and gave Júlio Porto a yellow card for diving instead. When Catarino Dantas came up free with the goalie in the 84th minute, the Cantanhede fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Catarino Dantas couldn't finish the play. In the 86thth minute of the game Catarino Dantas who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Tagilde's Xavier Ferro was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Catarino Dantas sent away a hard shot on goal in the 95th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Catarino Dantas took the ball and in the 97 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Xavier Ferro. Xavier Ferro dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 3-1. Tagilde's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
