The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. An unexpectedly hard shot by David Oliveira in the 4th minute of play forced SC Ester's goalkeeper Sandro Domingues to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When the match had gone on for 16 minutes, Gustavo Coimbra took a quick shot and it went in 2-0 without a chance for Afonso Lisboa to make any attempt to save it. After having played for 19 minutes, Gustavo Coimbra managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. SC Ester's supporters crossed their fingers, but Gustavo Coimbra was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Américo Setúbal received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 21st minute. Marco Reis kicked well hit freekick during the 32nd minute of the match. After having played for 38 minutes, Américo Setúbal managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. SC Ester's supporters crossed their fingers, but Américo Setúbal was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Américo Setúbal had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 40th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Rui Gonçalves struck a weak shot in the 45th minute. Sandro Domingues didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Gondivai. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-1 at half-time.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Gustavo Coimbra to make the kick off. When João Araújo came up free with the goalie in the 52nd minute, the Gondivai fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that João Araújo couldn't finish the play. João Araújo's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Sandro Domingues read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 54th minute of play. David Oliveira sent away a hard shot on goal in the 61st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Neither set of supporters seemed pleased with the draw, but both teams had played equally well today.
