The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Joaquim Carneiro stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After having played for 52 minutes, Óscar Paredes managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Pinhote's supporters crossed their fingers, but Óscar Paredes was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Hélder Setúbal was shown his second yellow card after 54 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. Thanks to some nice moves Afonso Carvalho could shoot a difficult shot in the 88th minute, which Paulo Nogueira however easily saved by the left post. An unexpectedly hard shot by Óscar Paredes in the 94th minute of play forced Cos's goalkeeper Júlio Araújo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Joaquim Carneiro's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Paulo Nogueira read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 96th minute of play.
