Seating: 8, VIP seats: 0) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Júlio Paiva kicked off to start the match. In the 6th minute Daniel Coelho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Simão Leite saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 9th match minute, Apolentina was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Alfredo Ramos to maneuver through the defense. Miguel Luz struck a weak shot in the 10th minute. Simão Leite didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Assilho. After a defensive mix-up in Apolentina's zone, Carlos Vieira stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Simão Leite came out of the goal and Carlos Vieira tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 19th minute, Daniel Coelho got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Carlos Vieira received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 21st minute. Simão Leite tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. José Ferreira recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 23rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. If Carlos Vieira had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 25th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Apolentina's Simão Leite played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Daniel Coelho in the 27th minute of play. In the 27th minute, Júlio Pacheco hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. José Ferreira received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 31st minute. Basílio Monteiro tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Daniel Coelho in the 34th minute of play forced Apolentina's goalkeeper Simão Leite to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Carlos Vieira got free with Simão Leite in the 38th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After a defensive mix-up in Apolentina's zone, Carlos Vieira stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Simão Leite came out of the goal and Carlos Vieira tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If Daniel Coelho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 42nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. With a little luck, Apolentina's Simão Leite got control of the ball when Carlos Vieira tried to sneak it across the goal line. Júlio Pacheco charged in rather forcefully in the 45th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Júlio Pacheco the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Assilho booed when Apolentina was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 45 match minutes in a wonderful position. Júlio Pacheco didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 48th minute the ball was on its way in behind Apolentina's goalkeeper Simão Leite, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.
The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Daniel Coelho stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Basílio Monteiro made an important save on a dangerous shot by José Ferreira in the 63rd minute. Daniel Coelho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 67th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Simão Leite having to interfere. In the 72nd minute, Júlio Pacheco hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 73 minutes into the match, Daniel Coelho had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Simão Leite. Apolentina's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Daniel Coelho was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-1. Basílio Monteiro made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Júlio Paiva in the 89th minute of play. In the 91st minute Apolentina were awarded a corner. Jorge Azevedo went to the cornerflag to take it. Assilho were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest. They thanked the players of Apolentina for a fine match.
