The audience was convinced that Fábio Rocha's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but José Gomes was relentless in the 6th minute of the game. 10 minutes into the game, Fonte FC's Heitor Cruz nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. In the 32nd minute, Miguel Aguiar ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. José Gomes was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-1. Miguel Aguiar who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 45thth minute tested the skills of José Gomes when he managed to save the team from getting behind. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Heitor Cruz to strike the kick off in the second half. The supporters of Fonte FC booed when Avidos FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 54 match minutes in a wonderful position. Catarino Pinho didn't get a good kick on the ball. Rafael Gaspar took the ball and in the 59 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Basílio Barros. Basílio Barros dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-2. José Gomes showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Miguel Aguiar, who was totally free with the ball in the 68th minute. When Fonte FC's Heitor Cruz, in the 71st minute, received a pass right in front of the net, it looked like a certain goal, but his shot went outside. A wasted opportunity for Fonte FC. When Fábio Rocha came up free with the goalie in the 79th minute, the Avidos FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Fábio Rocha couldn't finish the play. In the 84th minute, Miguel Aguiar ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. José Gomes was frozen by the shot and now it was 3-2. In the 89th match minute, Fonte FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jorge Lima to maneuver through the defense. The audience thought a goal was coming when Ricardo Abreu got free with Basílio Barros in the 93rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort.
