When Amílcar Branco came up free with the goalie in the 24th minute, the SC Negreda fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Amílcar Branco couldn't finish the play. Chellas's Simão Silva played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jorge Coimbra in the 26th minute of play. Pedro Cabral showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Fernando Moura in the 33rd minute of the match. Pedro Pinheiro fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 38th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Pedro Cabral having to interfere. After 40 played minutes Chellas got a freekick which was hit by Jorge Rodrigues. After 41 played minutes, SC Negreda's Fábio Branco shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Simão Silva came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in SC Negreda reached it.

Simão Silva stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Jorge Coimbra's shot from short distance in the 57th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Fernando Moura in the 60th minute of play forced SC Negreda's goalkeeper Pedro Cabral to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Pedro Pinheiro got free with Pedro Cabral in the 67th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After some fancy dribbling in the 69th minute, Fernando Moura managed to get in a good position for a shot. Chellas's supporters rose to their feet, but Fernando Moura was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Pedro Cabral breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Pedro Pinheiro might have been able to make a better finish in the 71st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Pedro Cabral. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Pedro Pinheiro ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 72nd minute Fernando Moura shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Pedro Cabral saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Pedro Cabral showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Fernando Moura, who was totally free with the ball in the 76th minute. The supporters of SC Negreda booed when Chellas was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 77 match minutes in a wonderful position. Pedro Pinheiro didn't get a good kick on the ball.
