Joel Baptista took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 4th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Joaquim Faro. SC Carrapatelo's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. 13 minutes into the match, Caixarias's Américo Aguiar sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Joaquim Faro narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Joaquim Faro came out of the goal in the 15th minute to try and stop a shot by Caixarias's Américo Aguiar. But to his dismay, Américo Aguiar quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. António Barbosa stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Delfim Gomes's shot from short distance in the 19th minute. When Manuel Vieira fell near the penalty area in the 20th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Caixarias's protests and gave Manuel Vieira a yellow card for diving instead. 22 minutes into the match, Caixarias's goal looked a bit too open when Delfim Gomes came free, but António Barbosa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Vicente Delgado had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 24th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The supporters of SC Carrapatelo booed when Caixarias was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 25 match minutes in a wonderful position. Cristiano Alves didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 33rd minute, Vicente Delgado hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. SC Carrapatelo's João Coimbra shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 35th minute of play. The shot was stopped by António Barbosa but with some difficulty. If Delfim Gomes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 36th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When %teams%'s Delfim Gomes was free in front of goal, he didn't hesitate to shoot 1-1 just inside the left pole, 38 minutes into the game. António Barbosa was annoyed at himself for letting in the shot. SC Carrapatelo's Joaquim Faro played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Simão Monteiro in the 43rd minute of play. In the 46th minute the ball was on its way in behind SC Carrapatelo's goalkeeper Joaquim Faro, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Vicente Delgado fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 49th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without António Barbosa having to interfere. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Américo Aguiar made a kick off. The audience thought a goal was coming when Américo Aguiar got free with Joaquim Faro in the 65th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Simão Monteiro's late challenge caught a SC Carrapatelo's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Simão Monteiro helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Caixarias's Simão Monteiro got a free kick in the 66th minute. Vicente Delgado took the ball and in the 67 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised António Barbosa. António Barbosa dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-1. When Américo Aguiar came up free with the goalie in the 73rd minute, the Caixarias fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Américo Aguiar couldn't finish the play. Caixarias's António Barbosa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Delfim Gomes in the 77th minute of play. Joaquim Faro made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from André Andrade in the 83rd minute of play. Joaquim Faro made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Américo Aguiar in the 86th minute of play. Vicente Delgado fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 101st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without António Barbosa having to interfere. Caixarias's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
