The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. If Carlos Fontes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 3rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Simão Gueifão showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Carlos Fontes in the 7th minute of the match. When Manuel Amaro fell near the penalty area in the 10th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Codecaes FC's protests and gave Manuel Amaro a yellow card for diving instead. In a very dangerous position, a player in Codecaes FC fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 10th minute. Penalty! Bernardo Jesus shot the penalty kick by force right in the crossbar. No goal. Simão Gueifão made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Carlos Fontes in the 14th minute of play. The supporters of Preguinho FC booed when Codecaes FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 17 match minutes in a wonderful position. João Correia didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Carlos Fontes in the 18th minute of play forced Codecaes FC's goalkeeper Simão Gueifão to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a rather tough play, Codecaes FC's Filipe Alves got a free kick in the 25th minute. In the 26th minute, Bernardo Jesus sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Codecaes FC's Simão Gueifão didn't even have to move. After a defensive mix-up in Preguinho FC's zone, Luís Branco stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Pedro Amorim came out of the goal and Luís Branco tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Luís Branco received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 39th minute. Pedro Amorim tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Artur Viegas could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 43rd minute of the match, but Pedro Amorim made a huge save. In the 44th minute Fábio Campos shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Pedro Amorim saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.
