To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. David Carvalho received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 13th minute. Cláudio Machado tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Cláudio Machado showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Viriato Nunes, who was totally free with the ball in the 14th minute. In the 16th minute Viriato Nunes shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cláudio Machado saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The attack was good, but when David Carvalho in the 32nd minute was about to shoot he didn't kick quite good enough and the ball went high over goal. In the 35th minute of the match José Setúbal shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Cláudio Machado showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Viriato Nunes in the 38th minute of play forced Zido FC's goalkeeper Cláudio Machado to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Gil Gonçalves could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 45th minute of the match, but Pedro Henriques made a huge save. Júlio Marques took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 47th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Pedro Henriques. SC Varejeira's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when José Leite stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. SC Varejeira's Pedro Henriques played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Luís Carvalho in the 69th minute of play. David Carvalho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 72nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cláudio Machado having to interfere. Viriato Nunes might have been able to make a better finish in the 75th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Cláudio Machado. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Viriato Nunes ran back to his position shaking his head. After having played for 81 minutes, Gil Gonçalves managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Zido FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Gil Gonçalves was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 85 minutes into the match, David Carvalho notched a goal, 0-2, to the right of Zido FC's Cláudio Machado. Cláudio Machado was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. A collision led to SC Varejeira getting a freekick after 90 minutes play. Carlos Marques hit a great ball. In the 91st minute, Armando Alves sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and SC Varejeira's Pedro Henriques didn't even have to move. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal.
