The supporters of Bandeiras FC booed when Saldanha FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 16 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gonçalo Neto didn't get a good kick on the ball. Óscar Vaz recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 17th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 23rd match minute, Saldanha FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Adolfo Valente to maneuver through the defense. In the 24th minute, Lúcio Ramos got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Vasco Nogueira made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Vicente Fonseca in the 26th minute of play. Fábio Santarém received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 28th minute. Diogo Gomes tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Fábio Santarém struck a weak shot in the 32nd minute. Diogo Gomes didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Saldanha FC. Vicente Fonseca fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 34th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Vasco Nogueira having to interfere. A collision led to Saldanha FC getting a freekick after 44 minutes play. Tomás Carneiro hit a great ball. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Fábio Santarém was the one to do the kick off. 54 minutes into the match, Saldanha FC's goal looked a bit too open when Óscar Vaz came free, but Vasco Nogueira reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 64 played minutes, Bandeiras FC's Basílio Guerreiro shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Vasco Nogueira came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Bandeiras FC reached it. The audience thought a goal was coming when Fábio Santarém got free with Diogo Gomes in the 66th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After a defensive mix-up in Bandeiras FC's zone, Fábio Santarém stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Diogo Gomes came out of the goal and Fábio Santarém tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 74th match minute, Bandeiras FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Basílio Guerreiro to maneuver through the defense. In the 75th minute, Bandeiras FC's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Fábio Santarém fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. Fábio Santarém recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 82nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Vasco Nogueira showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Óscar Vaz, who was totally free with the ball in the 85th minute. Vicente Fonseca sent away a hard shot on goal in the 87th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. After 94 minutes, Vítor Pedroso mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Saldanha FC and the Bandeiras FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. Saldanha FC's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
