Afonso Monteiro kicked well hit freekick during the 5th minute of the match. Basílio Melo hit a great freekick 8 minutes into the match. Jorge Mota sent away a hard shot on goal in the 12th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a defensive mix-up in Covancas's zone, Jorge Mota stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jorge Jesus came out of the goal and Jorge Mota tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Gustavo Vieira hit a great freekick 17 minutes into the match. Jorge Jesus showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jorge Mota in the 26th minute of the match. Eusébio Soares fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 30th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cândido Assunção having to interfere. When Jorge Mota came up free with the goalie in the 35th minute, the SC Lancada fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Jorge Mota couldn't finish the play. After some careless play in the SC Lancada defense, Eusébio Soares kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Cândido Assunção. The SC Lancada fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Cândido Assunção should have stopped the shot. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

Jorge Jesus made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Carlos Domingues in the 56th minute of play. Álvaro Soares hit a great freekick 62 minutes into the match. Cândido Assunção showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Eusébio Soares in the 66th minute of the match. A collision led to SC Lancada getting a freekick after 67 minutes play. Tiago Monteiro hit a great ball. In the 70th minute, Covancas's Eusébio Soares ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Cândido Assunção. Cândido Assunção yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 0-2. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Carlos Domingues in the 83rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Jorge Jesus saved Covancas from getting behind. Carlos Domingues received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 86th minute. Jorge Jesus tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 88 played minutes, SC Lancada's Filipe Aleixo shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Jorge Jesus came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in SC Lancada reached it. If Jorge Mota had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 96th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
