In the 15th minute Tomás Carvalho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Fernando Figueiredo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Joaquim Dias hit a great freekick 16 minutes into the match. Carlos Bessa took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Domingos Pinto, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Tomás Carvalho received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 21st minute. Fernando Figueiredo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Amadeu Lopes came up free with the goalie in the 23rd minute, the Alecrineira FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Amadeu Lopes couldn't finish the play. After having played for 35 minutes, Amadeu Lopes managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Carlos Bessa made a fantastic save in the 37th minute, when Pedro Alves sent off a good shot on target. Alecrineira FC's Amadeu Lopes managed to work through Odrinhas's defense and was going for an easy goal, but he hit the shot with his toe and the ball flew outside the goal. Amadeu Lopes dejectedly held out his arms as if to ask why the ball hadn't gone in. The audience thought a goal was coming when Amadeu Lopes got free with Carlos Bessa in the 44th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Jorge Gueifão made a kick off. In the 53rdth minute of the game Pedro Alves who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Odrinhas's Carlos Bessa was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Carlos Bessa showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Amadeu Lopes in the 54th minute of the match. After 58 minutes, Albertino Lisboa mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Odrinhas and the Alecrineira FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to Odrinhas getting a freekick after 59 minutes play. Albertino Lisboa hit a great ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Tomás Carvalho got free with Fernando Figueiredo in the 66th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Joaquim Dias charged in rather forcefully in the 66th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Joaquim Dias the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 66th match minute, Alecrineira FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Joaquim Dias to maneuver through the defense. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Jorge Gueifão in the 71st minute a chance for a shot on goal. If Domingos Pinto had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 77th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Domingos Pinto blasted a shot towards the goal in the 79th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Carlos Bessa having to make a save. Odrinhas's Carlos Bessa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Amadeu Lopes in the 81st minute of play. In the 81st match minute, Odrinhas was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Albertino Lisboa to maneuver through the defense. Fernando Figueiredo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jorge Gueifão, who was totally free with the ball in the 84th minute. In the 90th minute the ball was on its way in behind Odrinhas's goalkeeper Carlos Bessa, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. When the referee blew the final whistle, you could see the dissatisfaction in the Alecrineira FC players' eyes. They were disappointed they hadn't taken more from the game.
