The sun was shining, the grass was green and the audience cheered when Fernando Coimbra got the match started through his kick off. Rui Gomes received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 9th minute. Paulo Maia tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Rui Gomes struck a weak shot in the 12th minute. Paulo Maia didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Sucres. Carlos Neto took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Fernando Coimbra, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 20th minute, Fernando Coimbra left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Avelanoso fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-1. After 22 played minutes Avelanoso got a freekick which was hit by Afonso Pinto. A collision led to Avelanoso getting a freekick after 23 minutes play. Fernando Coimbra hit a great ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Gaspar Teixeira got free with Paulo Maia in the 24th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. A collision led to Avelanoso getting a freekick after 31 minutes play. Catarino Aleixo hit a great ball. After recieving a nice pass, Sucres's Ricardo Matos tried to score from far away in the 32nd minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Rui Gomes in the 35th minute of play forced Avelanoso's goalkeeper Paulo Maia to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The supporters of Sucres booed when Avelanoso was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 37 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gustavo Azevedo didn't get a good kick on the ball. Carlos Neto showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Fernando Coimbra in the 39th minute of the match. 40 minutes into the game, Heitor Aleixo was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Sucres's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Avelanoso the free kick. After 40 played minutes Sucres got a freekick which was hit by Heitor Aleixo. Armando Henriques kicked well hit freekick during the 45th minute of the match. 46 minutes into the match, Sucres's goal looked a bit too open when Gustavo Azevedo came free, but Carlos Neto reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Afonso Pinto charged in rather forcefully in the 48th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Afonso Pinto the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Afonso Pinto kicked well hit freekick during the 48th minute of the match. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

With an all-out effort, Avelanoso's Carlos Neto threw himself towards the right post 52 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Fernando Coimbra, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Afonso Pinto got his second yellow card in the match during the 54th minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. In the 55th minute, Afonso Pinto hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 58 minutes Avelanoso's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Ricardo Matos who took care of the corner kick. The corner led Sucres's Gaspar Teixeira to fire away a dangerous shot which Paulo Maia despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Fernando Coimbra fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 60th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Carlos Neto having to interfere. 68 minutes into the game, Fernando Coimbra was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Avelanoso's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Sucres the free kick. A collision led to Avelanoso getting a freekick after 68 minutes play. Fernando Coimbra hit a great ball. After 69 minutes of play, Sucres's Rui Gomes made it 2-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Paulo Maia was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 75th minute of the match Ricardo Matos shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Paulo Maia showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Rui Gomes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 81st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 83rd minute, Gaspar Teixeira left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Sucres fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-1. Armando Henriques's late challenge caught a Avelanoso's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Armando Henriques helped the player get up and apologised. Avelanoso's Paulo Maia played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Rui Gomes in the 98th minute of play. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Sucres fully deserved thier win.
