The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. An unexpectedly hard shot by Artur Valente in the 4th minute of play forced SC Taide's goalkeeper Inácio Dias to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Jorge Pinho made an important save on a dangerous shot by José Martins in the 9th minute. David Setúbal's late challenge caught a SC Taide's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. David Setúbal helped the player get up and apologised. 11 minutes into the match, Menexas FC's goal looked a bit too open when Jaime Henriques came free, but Jorge Pinho reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Jorge Pinho made an important save on a dangerous shot by Jaime Henriques in the 12th minute. In the 13th match minute, Menexas FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Abel Ramos to maneuver through the defense. Jorge Pinho took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jaime Henriques, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Daniel Amaral charged in rather forcefully in the 18th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Daniel Amaral the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The goalkeeper, Jorge Pinho, was totally fooled by SC Taide's Júlio Gomes, who 19 minutes into the game made a penalty shot that went in on the goalkeeper's left side. 24 minutes into the match, Menexas FC's goal looked a bit too open when Jaime Henriques came free, but Jorge Pinho reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. José Martins sent away a hard shot on goal in the 31st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. During the 32nd minute of the match David Setúbal completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave David Setúbal a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. Jaime Henriques received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 34th minute. Jorge Pinho tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Artur Valente had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 43rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After 44 played minutes Menexas FC got a freekick which was hit by Abel Ramos. After some careless play in the Menexas FC defense, José Martins kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Jorge Pinho. The Menexas FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Jorge Pinho should have stopped the shot. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-0 at half-time.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Jaime Henriques was the one to do the kick off. Jorge Pinho showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from José Martins, who was totally free with the ball in the 55th minute. 57 minutes into the match, Menexas FC's goal looked a bit too open when Jaime Henriques came free, but Jorge Pinho reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jaime Henriques in the 61st minute of play forced Menexas FC's goalkeeper Jorge Pinho to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Rogério Ferreira hit a great freekick 62 minutes into the match. The supporters of Menexas FC booed when SC Taide was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 65 match minutes in a wonderful position. Inácio Dias tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 80 minutes into the match, SC Taide's goalkeeper Inácio Dias had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Artur Valente. After some fancy dribbling in the 82nd minute, Artur Valente managed to get in a good position for a shot. Menexas FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Artur Valente was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Inácio Dias breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 83rd minute, Rogério Ferreira hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. José Martins sent away a hard shot on goal in the 90th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. José Martins received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 92nd minute. Jorge Pinho tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.
