Rui Almeida recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 17th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 20 minutes into the match, Murteira's goal looked a bit too open when Rui Almeida came free, but Armindo Paiva reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 31st minute, Armindo Borges made a precise shot to the right of Paulo Henriques. SC Cardosos's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. A collision led to SC Cardosos getting a freekick after 38 minutes play. Murteira's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave SC Cardosos the free kick. A collision led to Murteira getting a freekick after 45 minutes play. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Armindo Borges to make the kick off. Murteira's supporters crossed their fingers, but João Lisboa was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 63rd minute, Manuel Valente hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 70 played minutes Murteira got a freekick which was hit by Paulo Coimbra. In the 71st minute of the match Manuel Faria sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Armindo Paiva skillfully saved the ball. In the 71st match minute, Murteira was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by João Gomes to maneuver through the defense. Armindo Paiva stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Rui Almeida's shot from short distance in the 78th minute. After a rather tough play, Murteira's João Gomes got a free kick in the 79th minute. The supporters of Murteira booed when SC Cardosos was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 95 match minutes in a wonderful position. Humberto Teixeira didn't get a good kick on the ball. 96 minutes into the match, Murteira's João Lisboa sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Paulo Henriques narrowly saved just below the crossbar. The Murteira players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
