Spectators: 32 (Terracing: 25, Seating: 7, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Rodrigo Azevedo started the match with the kick off. If Rui Brás had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 5th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Manuel Neto made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Alexandre Esteves in the 10th minute of play. In the 11th match minute, Marinheiros was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Joaquim Almeida to maneuver through the defense. António Ramos sent away a hard shot on goal in the 13th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 15 minutes into the game, one of Marinheiros:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. The referee gave Varejota a penalty, 16 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Gaspar Machado, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Marinheiros's Manuel Neto. 0-1. With his leg Mário Sousa managed to avoid a goal in the 20thth minute, when Marinheiros's Rui Brás fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Mário Sousa stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Rodrigo Azevedo's shot from short distance in the 21st minute. The audience was convinced that António Ramos's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Manuel Neto was relentless in the 23rd minute of the game. Nuno Leal hit a great freekick 27 minutes into the match. After having played for 30 minutes, António Ramos managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Varejota's supporters crossed their fingers, but António Ramos was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 32nd match minute, Marinheiros was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Joaquim Almeida to maneuver through the defense. Varejota were awarded a corner in the 35th minute after Marinheiros's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Gaspar Machado took the corner. Rui Brás sent away a hard shot on goal in the 37th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. António Ramos's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Manuel Neto read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 43rd minute of play. When Rodrigo Azevedo came up free with the goalie in the 47th minute, the Marinheiros fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Rodrigo Azevedo couldn't finish the play. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Alexandre Esteves was the one to do the kick off. In the 52nd minute, Emanuel Mota hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 56 minutes into the match, Varejota's António Ramos sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Manuel Neto narrowly saved just below the crossbar. If Alexandre Esteves had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 57th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When the match had gone on for 68 minutes, Rodrigo Azevedo put it in 2-1 from a short distance just to the right of Mário Sousa. Alexandre Esteves sent away a hard shot on goal in the 77th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 86 minutes into the match, Marinheiros's goal looked a bit too open when Alexandre Esteves came free, but Manuel Neto reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Rodrigo Azevedo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 97th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Mário Sousa having to interfere. Marinheiros's supporters were highly satisfied with the result. They cheered their team of the pitch, having watched them win a very even match.
