Cândido Azevedo made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. With a little luck, Moncarapacho's Álvaro Assis got control of the ball when Adolfo Setúbal tried to sneak it across the goal line. Afonso Leal's late challenge caught a SC Nogueiro's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Afonso Leal helped the player get up and apologised. After 28 played minutes Moncarapacho got a freekick which was hit by Afonso Leal. Álvaro Assis made a fantastic save in the 31st minute, when Adolfo Setúbal sent off a good shot on target. SC Nogueiro's Adolfo Setúbal was standing unmarked in front of the goal when he, in the 34th play minute, got the ball and easily drilled it into the goal. Rogério Gaspar hit a great freekick 37 minutes into the match. In the 39th minute Manuel Dias shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cândido Azevedo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Manuel Dias fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 41st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cândido Azevedo having to interfere. If Ricardo Mendes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 45th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Moncarapacho's Álvaro Assis proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 47th minute of the match, managed to save Moncarapacho from getting a goal against them. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

Manuel Leiria was extremely unlucky when he, in the 88th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. In the 90th minute, one of SC Nogueiro:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for SC Nogueiro.
