Seating: 8, VIP seats: 0) The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Ricardo Mendes took the kick off in the first half of the match. 5 minutes into the game, Ricardo Mendes was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. SC Nogueiro's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Martir the free kick. Ricardo Mendes hit a great freekick 5 minutes into the match. The supporters of Martir booed when SC Nogueiro was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 8 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ricardo Mendes didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 12 played minutes, SC Nogueiro's Rogério Gaspar shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Alberto Antunes came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in SC Nogueiro reached it. After 14 minutes Martir's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Diamantino Amaro who took care of the corner kick. After taking down the ball on SC Nogueiro's corner Vasco Assunção fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Alberto Antunes quite easily take care of the ball. António Tavares hit a great freekick 17 minutes into the match. Diamantino Amaro was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 18th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. When Rui Fernandes fell near the penalty area in the 23rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored SC Nogueiro's protests and gave Rui Fernandes a yellow card for diving instead. In a very dangerous position, a player in SC Nogueiro fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 22nd minute. Penalty! The goalkeeper, Cândido Azevedo, was totally fooled by Martir's Hugo Ramos, who 24 minutes into the game made a penalty shot that went in on the goalkeeper's left side. After a defensive mix-up in Martir's zone, Adolfo Setúbal stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Alberto Antunes came out of the goal and Adolfo Setúbal tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 32nd match minute, Martir was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Fábio Baptista to maneuver through the defense. Ricardo Mendes scored 1-1 in the 33rd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Alberto Antunes, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. If Artur Porto had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 36th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Alberto Antunes made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ricardo Mendes in the 46th minute of play. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.
The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Gaspar Leão was the one to do the kick off. Cândido Azevedo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gaspar Leão, who was totally free with the ball in the 53rd minute. Ricardo Mendes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 59th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Cândido Azevedo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Artur Porto, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. SC Nogueiro's Cândido Azevedo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Artur Porto in the 66th minute of play. In the 67th minute, Oliveira Lima hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. A collision led to Martir getting a freekick after 70 minutes play. Gabriel Tavares hit a great ball. Alberto Antunes made an important save on a dangerous shot by Adolfo Setúbal in the 73rd minute. Artur Porto received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 75th minute. Cândido Azevedo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 77 minutes into the game, Gaspar Leão cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-1. Cândido Azevedo was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. When Artur Porto came up free with the goalie in the 89th minute, the Martir fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Artur Porto couldn't finish the play. Artur Porto might have been able to make a better finish in the 91st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Cândido Azevedo. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Artur Porto ran back to his position shaking his head. If Artur Porto had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 98th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. Martir had won after a very even match.
