Luís Aguiar sent away a hard shot on goal in the 7th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Valagotes's supporters crossed their fingers, but Oliveira Soares was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 31st minute, Mário Valente fired a really elegant long shot, but Cristiano Barbosa threw himself and managed to get hold of the ball just in front of the right post. After some careless play in the SC Veiga defense, Oliveira Soares kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Vítor Miranda. The SC Veiga fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Vítor Miranda should have stopped the shot. Luís Aguiar scored 0-2 in the 36th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Vítor Miranda, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. If Diogo Porto had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 41st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Carlos Viegas received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 43rd minute. Cristiano Barbosa tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Carlos Viegas sent away a hard shot on goal in the 46th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Diogo Porto to strike the kick off in the second half. Diogo Porto sent away a hard shot on goal in the 54th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Valagotes's Cristiano Barbosa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Diogo Porto in the 60th minute of play. Cristiano Barbosa took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Carlos Viegas, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Sandro Santos charged in rather forcefully in the 69th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Sandro Santos the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a rather tough play, SC Veiga's Sandro Santos got a free kick in the 69th minute. André Guerreiro was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 70th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. In the 72nd minute, SC Veiga's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Luís Aguiar fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. Cristiano Barbosa made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-2. The Valagotes supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Valagotes would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
