The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 3rdth minute of the game Hélder Pinho who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Armaes's André Cardoso was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After 6 minutes, António Araújo mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Armaes and the SC Brasil players grew even worse after the yellow card. With a couple of smart ball manuevers João Rocha in the 7th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg André Cardoso saved Armaes from getting behind. João Gomes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 8th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Duarte Mendes could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 13th minute of the match, but Daniel Fonseca made a huge save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Hélder Pinho in the 14th minute of play forced Armaes's goalkeeper André Cardoso to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 18 minutes, Hélder Pinho made it 0-1 with a short kick to the right side. After 52 minutes of play, Armaes's Duarte Mendes made it 2-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Daniel Fonseca was left in no man's land by his defense there! After 57 minutes, Vasco Gonçalves mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the SC Brasil and the Armaes players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to SC Brasil getting a freekick after 57 minutes play. Vasco Gonçalves hit a great ball. If Duarte Mendes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 61st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Daniel Fonseca took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Duarte Mendes, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Hélder Pinho sent away a hard shot on goal in the 68th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Armaes's Duarte Mendes got a good chance for a goal in the 72nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After a rather tough play, SC Brasil's Hélder Pinho got a free kick in the 75th minute. With 81 minutes on the clock, Afonso Queirós commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. In the 81st minute, one of Armaes:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Armaes.
