Rui Jesus kicked well hit freekick during the 3rd minute of the match. Rui Fernandes was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 4th minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from José Baptista. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alexandre Gueifão in the 5th minute of play forced SC Castelos's goalkeeper Rui Fernandes to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. David Gueifão struck a weak shot in the 8th minute. Fernando Barros didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for SC Castelos. Fernando Barros showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Carlos Barros, who was totally free with the ball in the 17th minute. In the 27th minute, Amadeu Teixeira hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After having played for 28 minutes, Nuno Vale managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Chaim's supporters crossed their fingers, but Nuno Vale was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 33 minutes into the match, SC Castelos's goal looked a bit too open when Alexandre Gueifão came free, but Rui Fernandes reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Nuno Vale fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 34th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rui Fernandes having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Carlos Barros in the 37th minute of play forced Chaim's goalkeeper Fernando Barros to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. David Gueifão sent away a hard shot on goal in the 41st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 42nd minute Sandro Esteves suffered a foot injury and had to be helped off the field. The supporters of SC Castelos booed when Chaim was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 44 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jorge Amorim didn't get a good kick on the ball. 47 minutes into the match, Chaim's Alexandre Gueifão sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Rui Fernandes narrowly saved just below the crossbar. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Carlos Barros stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. When Rui Jesus fell near the penalty area in the 50th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored SC Castelos's protests and gave Rui Jesus a yellow card for diving instead. In the 51st match minute, SC Castelos was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Rui Jesus to maneuver through the defense. Cristiano Figueiredo kicked well hit freekick during the 56th minute of the match. The audience was convinced that Alexandre Gueifão's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Rui Fernandes was relentless in the 58th minute of the game. In the 61st minute Nuno Vale shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rui Fernandes saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Fernando Barros showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Carlos Barros in the 66th minute of the match. After 66 played minutes Chaim got a freekick which was hit by Mário Vale. Alexandre Gueifão received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 68th minute. Rui Fernandes tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Fernando Barros made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Amadeu Teixeira in the 75th minute of play. 76 minutes into the match, Chaim's goalkeeper Fernando Barros had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Carlos Barros. If Alexandre Gueifão had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 79th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Nuno Vale recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 80th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Alexandre Gueifão received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 85th minute. Rui Fernandes tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After some fancy dribbling in the 87th minute, Nuno Vale managed to get in a good position for a shot. Chaim's supporters rose to their feet, but Nuno Vale was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Rui Fernandes breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Amadeu Teixeira's late challenge caught a Chaim's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Amadeu Teixeira helped the player get up and apologised. After 90 played minutes SC Castelos got a freekick which was hit by Amadeu Teixeira. Rui Fernandes took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Alexandre Gueifão, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Fernando Barros made a fantastic save in the 96th minute, when Carlos Barros sent off a good shot on target. Jeers came from both ends of the stadium when the final whistle went. Neither team had looked impressive and the draw seeemd a fair result.
