Alfredo Lima made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Vítor Gomes in the 35th minute of play. In the 36th minute the ball was on its way in behind Burgo FC's goalkeeper Domingos Ribeiro, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 39th minute Vicente Matos shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Domingos Ribeiro saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Paulo Dantas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 43rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Vítor Gomes struck a weak shot in the 45th minute. Alfredo Lima didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Burgo FC. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Vicente Matos stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Burgo FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Vítor Gomes was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Alfredo Lima breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick.
