The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Catarino Miranda hit a great freekick 24 minutes into the match. Armindo Luz received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 26th minute. Eduardo Reis tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Eduardo Reis took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Vicente Porto, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. A collision led to Talhas getting a freekick after 28 minutes play. Joaquim Nunes hit a great ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Vicente Porto in the 35th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Eduardo Reis prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After having played for 40 minutes, Vicente Porto managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Talhas's supporters crossed their fingers, but Vicente Porto was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Fernando Lisboa recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 43rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Joaquim Oliveira made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Fernando Lisboa in the 44th minute of play. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Vicente Porto to make the kick off. Eduardo Reis took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Vicente Porto, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Talhas's Joaquim Oliveira played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Rui Oliveira in the 59th minute of play. After having played for 60 minutes, Vicente Porto managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Talhas's supporters crossed their fingers, but Vicente Porto was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Rui Oliveira had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 62nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Fernando Lisboa in the 65th minute of play forced Talhas's goalkeeper Joaquim Oliveira to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 67th minute of the match Covelinhas got a corner. Talhas's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Emanuel Vaz ran over to the corner to take the kick. After a rather tough play, Talhas's Armindo Luz got a free kick in the 67th minute. Emanuel Vaz struck a weak shot in the 68th minute. Joaquim Oliveira didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Covelinhas. When Pedro Assunção fell near the penalty area in the 78th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Covelinhas's protests and gave Pedro Assunção a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, Covelinhas's Pedro Assunção got a free kick in the 78th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Vicente Porto in the 81st minute of play forced Covelinhas's goalkeeper Eduardo Reis to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After having played for 82 minutes, Armindo Luz managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Talhas's supporters crossed their fingers, but Armindo Luz was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The Talhas players were the happier at the end of the match as they had prevented Covelinhas from taking control. The game ends in a draw.
