The attack was good, but when Augusto Guarda in the 19th minute was about to shoot he didn't kick quite good enough and the ball went high over goal. Pedro Coimbra made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Alfredo Vaz in the 29th minute of play. When Poupas FC's José Lisboa in the 33rd minute got a chance for a shot 33rd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye SC Farilhe's goalie prevented a goal. André Monteiro fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 35th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Carlos Reis having to interfere. Pedro Coimbra made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Alfredo Vaz in the 40th minute of play. Poupas FC's Jorge Amaro got a good chance for a goal in the 44th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Augusto Guarda sent away a hard shot on goal in the 46th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Augusto Guarda was the one to do the kick off. 53 minutes into the match, Poupas FC's goalkeeper Pedro Coimbra had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Alfredo Vaz. When Augusto Guarda came up free with the goalie in the 59th minute, the Poupas FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Augusto Guarda couldn't finish the play. Hélder Figueiredo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 61st minute. Pedro Coimbra tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. José Lisboa hit a great freekick 67 minutes into the match. Pedro Coimbra didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Sandro Vale went, in the 70th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-1 was the resulting score. If Alfredo Vaz had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 75th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. 75 minutes into the match, Poupas FC's goal looked a bit too open when Hélder Figueiredo came free, but Pedro Coimbra reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Hélder Figueiredo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 80th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Pedro Coimbra having to interfere. Pedro Coimbra made a fantastic save in the 83rd minute, when Alfredo Vaz sent off a good shot on target. An unexpectedly hard shot by Hélder Figueiredo in the 87th minute of play forced Poupas FC's goalkeeper Pedro Coimbra to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Viriato Ferreira during the 90th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Poupas FC's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
