To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 23 played minutes Pegas got a freekick which was hit by Jorge Sá. When Joel Costa came up free with the goalie in the 91st minute, the SC Caxias fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Joel Costa couldn't finish the play. After a rather tough play, SC Caxias's Adolfo Amaral got a free kick in the 95th minute. If Rodrigo Esteves had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 97th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Miguel Cabral was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Cláudio Monteiro showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 4-3 in the 101 minute of play. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Pegas fans cheered their team off the field, for while SC Caxias had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
