Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 5 minutes into the match, Ariques FC's goal looked a bit too open when Xavier Garcia came free, but Fernando Rocha reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Vítor Castro who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 11thth minute tested the skills of Rogério Faro when he managed to save the team from getting behind. After 17 played minutes Espozende got a freekick which was hit by David Porto. Rogério Faro made an important save on a dangerous shot by Vítor Castro in the 21st minute. Rogério Faro didn't succeed in stopping the ball in the 22nd minute, which inside left pole to 1-0. After some fancy dribbling in the 28th minute, Xavier Garcia managed to get in a good position for a shot. Espozende's supporters rose to their feet, but Xavier Garcia was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Fernando Rocha breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After 29 played minutes Espozende got a freekick which was hit by David Porto. An unexpectedly hard shot by Artur Trindade in the 32nd minute of play forced Ariques FC's goalkeeper Fernando Rocha to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell José Leite to make the kick off. Vítor Castro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 51st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Xavier Garcia fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 74th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Fernando Rocha having to interfere. When David Porto came up free with the goalie in the 76th minute, the Espozende fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that David Porto couldn't finish the play. A collision led to Ariques FC getting a freekick after 77 minutes play. Rui Amaro hit a great ball. 81 minutes into the game, Xavier Garcia was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Espozende's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Ariques FC the free kick. In the 81st minute, Xavier Garcia hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Vítor Castro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 83rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some careless play in the Espozende defense, José Leite kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Rogério Faro. The Espozende fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Rogério Faro should have stopped the shot.
