The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for SC Sortelha. A collision led to SC Lisei getting a freekick after 7 minutes play. Alberto Leite hit a great ball. After 9 played minutes, SC Sortelha's Fernando Cunha shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Cláudio Pinheiro came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in SC Sortelha reached it. SC Lisei's Mariano Fontes got a good chance for a goal in the 11th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. A hard shot 13 in the game by Mariano Fontes from a close distance when the talented Luís Leite managed to make a qualified save. SC Sortelha's players were relieved. 17 minutes into the game, Artur Vale cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-1. Cláudio Pinheiro was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After some fancy dribbling in the 25th minute, Tomás Santarém managed to get in a good position for a shot. SC Lisei's supporters rose to their feet, but Tomás Santarém was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Luís Leite breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Mariano Fontes could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 26th minute of the match, but Luís Leite made a huge save. After a defensive mix-up in SC Sortelha's zone, Mariano Fontes stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Luís Leite came out of the goal and Mariano Fontes tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Mariano Fontes received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 29th minute. Luís Leite tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 32 minutes into the match, SC Lisei's Tomás Santarém sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Luís Leite narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 44th minute, Alberto Leite hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 45 minutes into the match, SC Sortelha's Fernando Cunha broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The audience thought a goal was coming when Artur Vale got free with Cláudio Pinheiro in the 54th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Tomás Santarém's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Luís Leite read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 58th minute of play. 60 minutes into the match, Artur Vale had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Cláudio Pinheiro. SC Lisei's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Artur Vale was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-2. In the 67th minute the ball was on its way in behind SC Lisei's goalkeeper Cláudio Pinheiro, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After a defensive mix-up in SC Sortelha's zone, Tomás Santarém stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Luís Leite came out of the goal and Tomás Santarém tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Paulo Antunes might have been able to make a better finish in the 70th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Cláudio Pinheiro. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Paulo Antunes ran back to his position shaking his head. Artur Vale received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 74th minute. Cláudio Pinheiro tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 75 played minutes SC Lisei got a freekick which was hit by Alberto Leite. Artur Vale sent away a hard shot on goal in the 77th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Artur Vale had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 84th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
