The tension between the SC Funchal and the Montachique FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. Ricardo Nogueira took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 5th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Pedro Moreira. SC Funchal's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. If Ricardo Brás had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 9th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 10 minutes into the game, Filipe Silva was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. SC Funchal's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Montachique FC the free kick. The supporters of Montachique FC booed when SC Funchal was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 10 match minutes in a wonderful position. Filipe Silva didn't get a good kick on the ball. Adelino Assis could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 12th minute of the match, but Pedro Moreira made a huge save. Ricardo Brás fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 20th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Pedro Moreira having to interfere. Pedro Moreira was out of position in the 23 minute of play, and Adelino Assis capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Adelino Assis really showed his touch with that goal: 2-0. Vicente Neves took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from João Santos, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 30th match minute, Montachique FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Bruno Esteves to maneuver through the defense. Gonçalo Paiva fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 34th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Vicente Neves having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Eusébio Luz in the 37th minute of play forced Montachique FC's goalkeeper Vicente Neves to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Domingos Brito kicked well hit freekick during the 42nd minute of the match. In the 46th match minute, Montachique FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Nuno Gueifão to maneuver through the defense.

Ricardo Nogueira hit a great freekick 51 minutes into the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 52nd minute, Gonçalo Paiva managed to get in a good position for a shot. SC Funchal's supporters rose to their feet, but Gonçalo Paiva was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Vicente Neves breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Vicente Neves took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Eusébio Luz, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Adelino Assis's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Pedro Moreira read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 82nd minute of play. When Eusébio Luz came up free with the goalie in the 83rd minute, the SC Funchal fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Eusébio Luz couldn't finish the play. Pedro Moreira showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ricardo Brás in the 90th minute of the match. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. Montachique FC had won after a very even match.
