In the 3rdth minute of the game António Coimbra who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Alquebre FC's Armindo Fonseca was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Jaime Gueifão sent away a hard shot on goal in the 4th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Jaime Gueifão had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 9th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Jaime Gueifão sent away a hard shot on goal in the 13th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. A collision led to Espinhoso FC getting a freekick after 15 minutes play. António Coimbra hit a great ball. Jorge Resende kicked well hit freekick during the 17th minute of the match. With a little luck, Espinhoso FC's Carlos Garcia got control of the ball when Tiago Gaspar tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 23rd minute, António Coimbra ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Armindo Fonseca was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. 30 minutes into the match, Alquebre FC's goal looked a bit too open when António Coimbra came free, but Armindo Fonseca reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 31st minute the ball was on its way in behind Espinhoso FC's goalkeeper Carlos Garcia, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. António Coimbra struck a weak shot in the 36th minute. Armindo Fonseca didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Espinhoso FC. Jaime Gueifão might have been able to make a better finish in the 37th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Armindo Fonseca. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Jaime Gueifão ran back to his position shaking his head. 38 minutes into the match, Espinhoso FC's António Coimbra sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Armindo Fonseca narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 42nd minute Joaquim Carvalho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Carlos Garcia saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Jaime Gueifão sent away a hard shot on goal in the 48th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Alquebre FC's Armindo Fonseca played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jaime Gueifão in the 49th minute of play. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

53 minutes into the match, Joaquim Carvalho had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Carlos Garcia. Espinhoso FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Joaquim Carvalho was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-1. After a rather tough play, Alquebre FC's Vítor Resende got a free kick in the 60th minute. Espinhoso FC's João Amorim got a good chance for a goal in the 61st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. When Joaquim Carvalho came up free with the goalie in the 65th minute, the Alquebre FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Joaquim Carvalho couldn't finish the play. The supporters of Espinhoso FC booed when Alquebre FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 67 match minutes in a wonderful position. Tiago Coimbra didn't get a good kick on the ball. António Coimbra recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 68th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The long shot by João Matos in the 70th minute really tested Armindo Fonseca's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. António Coimbra sent away a hard shot on goal in the 74th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. If Jaime Gueifão had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 76th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 77th minute António Coimbra shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Armindo Fonseca saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Alquebre FC's zone, António Coimbra stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Armindo Fonseca came out of the goal and António Coimbra tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Carlos Garcia showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Tiago Gaspar in the 82nd minute of the match. Jaime Gueifãos short, quick shot in the 86thth minute got Armindo Fonseca to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. António Coimbra fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 88th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Armindo Fonseca having to interfere. Alquebre FC were furious when Vítor Resende was red carded, 93 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 92nd minute of the game. One of Alquebre FC:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Espinhoso FC:s goal. When the match had been going on for 96 minutes, Espinhoso FC's João Amorim got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Armindo Fonseca. If Jaime Gueifão had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 99th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The Espinhoso FC supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Espinhoso FC would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
